Hi,
I'm Fred Klohn and I designed and build the split-paddlewheel-boat "Holiday Queen" and later sold it to Yankee Lake. I've been wondering what happened to it and just today discovered a picture of it operating on your website. Nice! It would be nice to know if it died a natural death or is still stored somewhere??

Hi Fred, Sorry I have not been managing this forum very well. Looking into revitalizing this project which has sat still for several years. As for the Holiday Queen. I believe she was eventually sold off. I'm not sure where to, but if I ever come across that information, I will let you know. Thank you so much for the picture! I wish we had more of them. I think the boat was renamed, or at least referred to as, the "Yankee Clipper" while it roamed Yankee Lake. There is even a burger named after it at the still functioning restaurant / bar. Hope all is well.

John! - Glad to see you "came up for air" - it's been just short of 2 years since I posted that question. LOL ... You are not the only one who does not "manage" web sites well. I created "Coffeebunch.com" after moving to Florida. It was because of the 4 of us that coffee nearly every morning. Finally tired of adding to it and now only pay to own the name. It is available and "hosted" on a free site. You may remember that the "Queen/Clipper" was (is?) electrically-mechanically a technical marvel but I built her on a scow bottom. While GREAT on small Holiday Sands lake and at Yankee Lake - we carried her over to West Branch one day and found out she was BORING on "big water"; SLOW and also, having no keel she crabbed badly in the wind - something you didn't notice on a small pond.. Good to hear from you - keep in touch.. fredb58@comcast.net Fort Myers, FL.
